Getting started with us is simple: Give Susan Robinson a call to set up your training sessions!  Training is one on one with Susan. If you have a small group (maximum of 4) that wants to train together, great! There are morning and afternoon sessions open. Payment by cash, check, credit card.

How we are different: Are you the kind of person who doesn't like going to the gym where you're forced to train in front of others? Is it difficult for you to imagine training at a BIG CrossFit facility? We provide personal attention in a discreet and private training environment in a San Diego neighborhood. Our clients find the atmosphere personal, comfortable, welcoming, and FUN!

  • Active coaching: Training is one on one. You'll be trained to perform the movements of CrossFit safely and well. You'll find your confidence increases as you stick with the training. You'll develop 'muscle memory' and see your coordination and ability improve. Lots of practice; real results.
  • Superior methods: Better results are achieved with free weights, functional movements, and intensity than with the standard gym's machines and circuit training. You'll learn athletic, functional exercises, bodyweight calisthenics, weightlifting, and you'll gain cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength, coordination, balance, speed, and more. We use the CrossFit methods because we know they work.
  • Scalability: All workouts are tailored to what is appropriate for your ability and fitness level.

Reality check: We aren't promising you a fit and beautiful body without effort. You'll have to work AND you'll reap the rewards when you do!

Our program is appropriate for everyone - everyday people seeking general fitness, adults seeking increased functional ability, athletes and sports-minded people who want to see their 'game' improve. Whether you're physically active at work or not: This program will have you performing better on and off the job.

CrossFit improves health and general conditioning more than other programs. The functional skills and movements we train are useful in everyday life and will change your body far more than training on the machines at the traditional gym. CrossFit will challenge you to push your personal limits and lead you to the best shape of your life, no matter what condition you start in.

Training sessions at Fitness Beyond The Box are 55 - 60 minutes long and consist of several components: Warm up, skill practice, movement preparation, followed by a workout. We place a heavy emphasis on mechanics and performing a movement correctly to ensure your confidence, safety, and results.

Don't worry if you're just getting back into shape - remember that all of our workouts are 'scalable' - meaning we tailor them to the appropriate level of difficulty for your level of fitness and ability.
We regularly make adjustments in the number of repetitions, the amount of weight, and the distance covered so that everyone can participate! Please don't be intimidated by just looking at our website!

We train individuals / small groups with the CrossFit methods at our garage gym in San Diego, CA by appointment ONLY. Our primary mission is to take what we learn in the 'box' outside, exploring our physical abilities while expanding ourselves through adventures and retreats that expand our experience physically as well as mentally.
